WHAT
IS THERMOTHERAPY TECHNIQUE? |
 |
Thermotherapy
is the application of heat intended for aesthetic and therapeutic
usage on the body by means of material bodies of high temperature
above the physiological levels.
Thermotherapy was used by the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians,
and other ancient civilizations for the treatment of multiple ailments.
In its effectiveness, thermotherapy has been continuously utilized
up until present day, while the ways of heat application have been
changed and perfected.
A hot thermal agent is considered to be between a minimal temperature
of 34 and 36ºC. The limit of maximum temperature is set according
to the sensitivity of the skin and should not exceed 58ºC.

ACTION
MECHANISM OF THERMOTHERAPY |
 |
The
application of thermal bands at a local level for the treatment of
adiposities, produce an increase of the corporal temperature, which
eliminates toxins, retention of fluids, and increases the cellular
metabolism with caloric loss and elimination of accumulated fat.
In a local application, a reflexive action is produced as the result
of vasomotor modifications, which are reflected on distal zones in
the form of hyperemia. This creates cellular nutrition, an increase
of the re-absorption of pathogen products, and a germicide, anti-inflamitory,
and analgesic effect.
|
 |
The
change in temperature initiates thermoregulation, in which the elevated
temperature produces periferic vasodilation, perspiration, hyperventilation,
thermal irradication, and piloerection.

On hypertensive patients, it is recommended to use heat treatments
on localized zones, which are not very large; or only on the
inferior part of the body |
